A/C delete, Posi, W-41. 1993 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX W-41 Vin # 1G3NL14A1PM029869Ordered by my father Raymond Saidel, creator of the Jomar racing cars, prototypes of the TVR, President of Merrimack Street Oldsmobile Volvo. White exterior with gray cloth, 5 speed transmission. The car was ordered and modified to Oldsmobile Team specs for use as a practice car keeping Rays skills honed as he raced his beloved Jomars in VSCCA. Ray did use the Achieva for several years on the road as well. This is a rare W-41 with A/C delete option. All decals (never installed), documentation and communication with Manapart and GM will go with the car.The SCX production ran only 2 years 1992 and 1993. 1993 While they knew the C41 code wouldn t be a big seller (less than 10 cars were equipped with the option in 1992), it was done purposefully by Oldsmobile to be able to pass these upgrades off as stock modifications in the Firehawk series. Production of the SCX would continue one additional year as 500 SCXs were made in 1993. By modern standards, 190 horsepower is hardly anything to get excited about. But context is certainly needed to see the full picture. The W41 Quad 4 was simply groundbreaking in its day. Utilizing the same displacement in the 2.3-liter Pinto engine, Ford needed a turbocharger to achieve the same 190-horsepower rating in the 1987-88 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Astonishingly, the W41 Quad 4 remained the most powerful naturally aspirated four-cylinder developed by GM for more than two decades. According to a review from Motorweek, the 1993 SCX could accelerate to 60 mph in the upper seven-second range and complete a quarter-mile in 16 seconds flat. While these brisk times prove the car is no straight-line slouch, the SCX was never intended to be a drag racer. With its miniscule 2,700-pound curb weight, it was designed to be unsuspecting pocket rocket dressed in the guise of an ordinary Oldsmobile. First is the revised camshaft profiles. The lift remains the same between them, .410', but the duration is changed from open 69-close 73 to open 68-close 73. Essentially, one degree longer duration.Also, the ECM was tweaked to raise the rev limiter from 6800 to 7400 in 1991, and 7200 in subsequent years.
