1972 Plymouth Duster 340 - Survivor Example - All Original Paint and Interior - Numbers Matching 340ci 4bbl V8 - Numbers Matching Automatic Transmission - 89k Original Miles - Collector Grade Duster (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1972 Plymouth Duster 340 on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, its possible that youve only seen some of our many photographs of the car due to third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all the more than 150 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around video, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.) The Plymouth Duster is Mopars underappreciated mini muscle car -Hagerty Media, October 2020 Hagerty went on to explain their view: Mopar built some of the loudest, gaudiest, most cartoonish muscle cars of the 60s and 70s. They were perfect. You couldnt ask more from a muscle car. Consequently, muscle car fans have driven the prices for the hottest Mopars into the stratosphere. Plymouth Cudas and Road Runner can demand six figures when equipped with the right powertrain and color options. Plymouth Dusters, on the other hand, are still attainable, even when equipped with desirable powertrains. Sure, they didnt pack 440 or 426 power, but they also weighed less than the B-body Road Runner and Satellite and make an excellent platform for a street or strip car. As to the Duster 340, they added: From 1970–73, the Duster 340 offered up a potent small-block package with the same high-revving power as the Cuda. Offered here is a beautifully original, perfectly preserved, numbers-matching 1972 Plymouth Duster 340 in Hemi orange (code V2) over white with black accents. Showing 89,044 miles on its odometer, fewer than 1,850 miles per-year on average since new, the car is a respectfully treated, all-original true survivor. It couldnt have looked much nicer when it was delivered to its first owner 50 years ago. The cars exterior Hemi orange non-metallic paint is in exceptional condition: uniformly glossy across the entire car. Body-panel alignment is excellent. A full Duster 340 graphics and striping package in black-including the cartoon Duster guy graphic on the side stripes and rear deck. There is no mistaking this Duster for anything but the street-performance muscle car it is. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The chrome trim, bumpers, grille, and badging on the car are original and in excellent condition, in the same way, cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and undamaged. Original silver-painted, 14-inch, steel rally wheels (with brushed-metal center hubs and trim rings) are mounted with fresh Cooper® Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter (with blackwall side mounted facing out) performance tires for a period-correct look. Oval-shaped chrome dual-exhaust tips on the car are factory-original. The cars original interior is in place. Front split-bench seat and the rear bench seat are upholstered in horizontally pleated white vinyl in outstanding original condition, there are no rips or tears. The factory dashboard in black, black-painted upper door panels, and black cabin carpeting add contrast to the white. Factory woodgrain dash trim remains in place surrounding the analog instrumentation. There have been no modifications or replacement of gauges, and the factory-installed push-button AM radio and slide-lever heat and ventilation controls also remain in place. The automatic-transmission shift lever is mounted on the steering column to the rear of the black, 3-spoke steering wheel with Dodge-Division logo emblem. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the condition of the Dusters interior surfaces.) Under the hood, the perfectly clean and orderly engine bay is a Mopar fans visual delight: the 340 cubic-inch V8 with 4 Barrel-labeled air cleaner and valve covers matching the blue engine-block color are all original. Auxiliary components are properly located, hoses and wiring are neatly routed. Viewed from below, the Dusters chassis is perfectly tidy. Stock headers, the properly installed Dynomax® full-length dual-exhaust system with crossover, fresh suspension components, and spotless undersides of the engine and transmission all compete for attention here. The Dusters original identification and information tags remain as mounted at the factory. While the more than 150 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this 72 Plymouth Duster 340 in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions. Unless this near-perfect 72 Duster 340 survivor ends up in a museum, the fortunate Mopar fan who acquires it is certain to spend almost as much time enjoying the street-performance aspects of the car as he or she does showing off its impressive details to fellow Mopar aficanados. Saturday-morning cars-and-coffee gatherings ought to be a blast. (Something tells us, the new ownerll remember to make an appropriate exit.)
